About

The Friends of Kings Mountain State Park began January, 2009. The focus of this organization is to improve and preserve the heritage of Kings Mountain State Park as a vital reminder of the history of South Carolina and as a valuable natural resource for all S.C. citizens and the park’s many visitors.

Since that first organizational meeting, the membership has grown. Volunteer work days have resulted in cleared trails after numerous storms; grant funds obtained for expansion and improvements in the Apple Road day parking lot; and other related activities, such as building a bridge for the hikers.

The FKMSP group can ask individuals and corporations for donations for park needs, as government employees are not permitted to do.
